AVFilm: Community Workshops

oin us for our FIRST-EVER filmmaking workshop series in AVFilm’s NEW classroom at Plaza Cinema Center! Whether you are interested in learning a new skill, looking for ways to up your social media game, or are an avid filmmaker, this class is for you! We recommend taking all three classes; however, you can register for each class separately. These workshops are designed for an 18+ audience. 1. Film For All: Telling Your Story with Colin Stice 1. Film For All: Telling Your Story with Colin Stice We all have a story we need to tell, but doing so can be daunting at times. In this class, you will gain the confidence to start the journey from the kernel of an idea to a fully realized project on screen. Whether it be personal or business, documentary or fiction, in this first section of a three-part series, you will learn the building blocks of a story, from ideation through to an outline for your story. You’ll leave ready to flesh out your story on paper and come back to prepare for a shoot in our Creating Content class. Colin (he/him) grew up in Sonoma and Marin Counties. His career as a filmmaker began with the family’s VHS video camera and a tradition of going to the movies every weekend, followed by a discussion. Colin later received a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University with an emphasis on Directing. Since then, he has worked in advertising, narrative, documentary, branded content, and social media. His passion for storytelling, filmmaking, and teaching, along with a strong belief in media literacy, has led him to AVFilm, where he is excited to engage with the community.
