Event Description:
This free history class and listening party will explore the beginning of Bossa Nova following its arch through Brazil onto the world’s jazz music scene. We will listen to the music of João Gilberto, Jobim, Baden Powell... We will explore the intersection of Bossa Nova with West Coast Jazz in the late 1950s and early 60s, and into the 21st Century as an enduring musical genre. With Professor Emeritus Sherry Keith, percussionist and educator Ami Molinelli, and special guests vocalist Claudia Villela and three-time Latin Grammy Nominee pianist and composer Jovino Santos Neto.
