Date: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4/22/20 LOCAL ART FOR LOCAL FOOD: ONLINE ART AUCTION to Benefit Redwood Empire Food Bank

AUCTION DATES APRIL 24- MAY 10

Upstairs Art Gallery artists sponsor an art auction to provide immediate help to the Redwood Empire Food Bank. “We feel for our community in crisis. Using our artistic skills to help out is the least we can do,” said Carolyn Wilson, president of the Upstairs Art Gallery board. Twenty gallery artists will participate, offering paintings, jewelry and other craft items. Online Bidding starts at 10 am on April 24,2020 and closes on May 10, 2020 at 5 pm. Shoppers will have an opportunity to skip the bidding and secure their art purchase with a ‘buy it now option.’ Art sold to local customers will be hand delivered or shipped free nationally. The Redwood Empire Food Bank, focused on eliminating hunger in Sonoma County, has seen the number of participants double during the COVID-19 outbreak. They have a dire need for food, volunteers and funds. The funds raised by this auction will help them continue to operate and deliver food to those in need. Kicking off the auction items is “Honey Crisp” an oil painting which highlights our “ Local Art for Local Food” theme by local artist Laura Roney. Wine Country painter, Donna Schaffer presents “Chalk Hill Vineyard,” an oil painting depicting that beautiful corner of our region. Healdsburg artist, Linda Barretta offers “Dusk,” an oil painting that highlights the magical color of the day’s waning hours. “Imwalle Gardens,” a beautiful take on this local farm stand, is offered by pastel artist Karen Miller, also of Healdsburg. Known for her elegant wine themed paintings, Willow Laland -Yielding presents “Scion, Robert Young.” Mila Lamberson offers a pick from her collection of flower paintings: “Out the Window,” a colorful oil that puts the viewer right in the middle of the garden. These are just a few examples of the wide selection of quality works offered by the award-winning artists of the Upstairs Art Gallery through this auction to benefit the Redwood Empire Food Bank. To view the artwork for sale and place your bid go to https://www.32auctions.com/uag2020. Depending on the artist, 60 to 100 percent of the price (minus shipping) will go to the Food Bank. “This is win-win situation. Art patrons can feed their souls; local families can feed their kids,” concluded Wilson. For further information: Contact: Beverly Bird, Press Contact, at bvdrio@sonic.net or 707-799-1490.
