“Picturing Healdsburg” is a visually exciting history of iconic Healdsburg places as seen through the lens of local photographers, past and present. On display are historic and contemporary images of the Healdsburg Plaza, the Russian River, Fitch Mountain, downtown streets, and Healdsburgers at work and play. Antique cameras and photographic equipment from the exceptional collections of Joseph Downing in the 1870s, Mervyn Silberstein and S.E. Langhart in the early 1900s, Al Loebel, John Carriger and Arnold Santucci of the Healdsburg Tribune in the early to mid-20th century are prominently featured. Advances in photo processing and printing are also illustrated, including samples of ambrotypes, daguerreotypes, stereographs and glass-plate negatives.
