Summer Supper:Rendezvous!

helping our community continue to connect abundance to need...

In 2008, Farm to Pantry launched to serve a need to our local community: to provide a continuous supply of fresh healthy produce to our most vulnerable neighbors who lack access to it by cultivating a community of growers and volunteers. Since then, over 200 tons of produce have been gleaned (harvested) by Farm to Pantry and distributed to our 30 partner non-profit organizations and low income housing complexes to. We are providing healthy food to our neighbors in need throughout Sonoma County.

We carry out our mission by engaging volunteers who glean (harvest) and collect from a continually growing network of local growers. These are typically commercial, organic farms and home gardeners who have excess produce to harvest. Instead of this produce going to waste, we will glean all that is available and distribute to other community organizations who then distribute to those in need. Because healthy food choices are vital to the community Farm to Pantry serves, we also provide education services to schools and other disadvantaged community members through fields trips, etc. -- all designed to strengthen community engagement and education. This is all achievable through our strong relationships with our city, county and state government officials, individual school districts, and Sonoma County Departments of Health and Human Services.

We strive to accomplish our mission through gleaning, gleaning events, student gleaning field trips, nutrition education, and preserving events.  In addition we actively participate in the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market and other various community activities that strengthen community engagement and education. We also partner with other non-profit organizations that address food  insecurity, food waste and poor nutrition.
