Name: Sunday's in the Plaza: Healdsburg Jazz Festival Juneteenth Celebration
Date: June 19, 2022
Time: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Jesús Díaz y su Qba performs a free two-hour concert in the beautiful Healdsburg Plaza, joined by his eight-piece Afro-Cuban Ensemble. The Cuban born, Bay Area-based percussionist and singer is one of the most versatile and accomplished artists on the Afro-Cuban music scene, performing with his dance-heavy, dynamic ensemble that is “one of the few groups in the United States playing timba, a new-millennium musical idea from Cuba that fuses post-revolutionary innovations like songo with funk and jazz” -SF Chronicle. Jesús Díaz has performed, toured or recorded with such artists as Stevie Wonder, The Dave Mathews Band, Carlos Santana, Andy Narrell, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobbie Womack, Steve Coleman, Caribbean Jazz Project, Talking Drums, Sheila E. & Pete Escovedo, and others. Join us for a series of relaxing afternoons in the plaza this summer from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Each week will feature a live music performance from a local band or performer. Not to be confused with Tuesdays in the Plaza, this is a great opportunity to bring a picnic, sit back, relax and enjoy the melodies.
