Date: October 21, 2024 - November 24, 2024
Event Description:
EXHIBIT DATES: OCTOBER 22 TO NOVEMBER 24, 2024 RECEPTION: Saturday, November 2, 2024 3-6 pm: Meet artists Nancy Gray and Phyllis Rapp to hear about their artistic inspirations and celebrate the show. Refreshments will be served. Sonoma County artist, Nancy Gray presents Cornucopia of Color, a collection of colorful acrylic paintings infused with sunlight and inspired by the vibrant palette of our local environs. Gray, always a sun worshiper yearns to be in nature in its healing warmth. The viewer basks in that warmth in “California’s Poppied Coast,” as golden red poppies dot a hillside set off by an azure sea. “Hillside Splendor” lives up to its title – a rich tapestry of bright red, orange, blue color passages. “Alexander Valley Gold” is a dramatic take on a fall vineyard scene. So rich in happy color, these works cannot help but warm the heart. “Rather than showing how a landscape looks, I want to show how it feels – the art should grab your eye and make you smile inside,” explained Gray. Art has always been a passion for Gray. A Texas native, she loves living in the wine country and is inspired by the region’s magnificent landscape. Her bright color palette was influenced by early years vacationing on the Caribbean coast of Yucatan and Belize. She began exhibiting her art in Houston in the early 90’s and continued focusing on her painting after moving to Sonoma County. She exhibits regionally and joined the Upstairs Art Gallery in 2021. Meet the Artist: Gray will be hosting the Gallery October 24, November 7 and 14, 11am – 6pm.
