Sonoma County artist Gail Morgan, presents Reclamation, a collection of mixed media collages incorporating original monoprints. While pouring through her previous monoprint work, Morgan became excited by the new compositions emerging as she connected the old images, colors, textures in new ways. Morgan finds reclamation a valuable process. She also reclaims feelings in the process, like looking at old photos and reliving memories. A case in point, “Up, Up and Away” sets gravity aside, lifting our feelings with its bold composition, bright colors and unique textures. “Reclamation is the opposite of waste – I enjoy giving new life to the old. What didn’t quite work before gets a new lease on life in a beautiful new work,” remarked Morgan. Morgan’s love of art started at a young age – her mother, an artist, was her first teacher. Monotype, her foremost art form, allows her to explore color and design in a spontaneous way. Using the monotypes as the basis for this series of collages results in spontaneous surprises manifesting in new, exciting ways. Morgan exhibits in the region and has participated in Art at the Source Open Studio Program over the past several years. Meet the Artist: Morgan will be hosting the Gallery October 6, 2:30 – 6 pm, October 14, 11 – 2:30 pm, and October 22, 2023, 11am to 6pm.
