Name: Art Exhibit: Summer's Bounty
Date: May 31, 2021 - June 27, 2021
Event Description:
Sonoma County artist, Laura Roney, presents Summer’s Bounty, a collection of oil paintings that celebrate the seasonal transformation as flowers blossom to create their fruit. As nature awakens from its long Winter slumber, Roney finds Spring an exciting time. Watching the trees come to life and flowers bloom inspires her art. Working in oils allows Roney to layer colors through multiple glazes and create the translucence of the fruits, the colors growing in richness with each layer of paint. “I am always amazed at how these simple shapes emerging from nature can be so complex in color – a simple orange can reveal hints of vermillion and gold,” noted Roney. Deliciously stunning in shades of beautiful hues, these works, featuring luscious fruits, are colorful beacons to welcome the new season. Roney has been in love with art her entire life, always including art in her education. Whatever career she was pursuing, she looked at the world through an artist’s eye. She began her career in microbiology, followed by an MBA in Finance and a career move to pharmaceutical research. She always made time for artistic endeavors and a family move to California finally afforded Roney an opportunity to focus on her art. She completed her MFA at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2019.
