Art Exhibit: The Art of Giving

RECEPTION/HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: DECEMBER 2, 2023, 10am to 7pm: Join in to meet the artists and cheer the season and the show. Holiday goodies, small treats and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Sonoma County artists, Linda Barretta, Marsha Connell, Karen Miller, Laura Roney, Donna Schaffer, Carmen Sheldon, and Carolyn Wilson, present The Art of Giving, a collection of works that explore the bountiful gifts of the season. Ever a seasonal favorite, the color red takes a starring role. In Wilson’s “Winter Messenger,” a red cardinal greets us cheerfully from his perch among bare winter branches while Schaffer’s red headed “Flirting Finch” sings his heart out. Warming the spirit, Miller’s “Amaranth,” lush red branches framed by evergreens, and Connell’s “Red Poppies, 1 & 2” underscore nature’s generosity – her vibrant colors become wellsprings of hope. The gifts of hope and peace are further conjured in Barretta’s “Silent Night,” a work that captures the magic of a starry bright winter night. Roney’s “Cheers” series reminds of the wonderful gift of family and friends as we share the joy of celebrating together. Highlighting the gifts of the season, this collection cheers us on to fully appreciate the many aspects of the season’s offerings. Whether it’s enjoying nature, sharing good times with family and friends, enjoying the peace of a starry night – it’s all a recipe for a joyful holiday season.
