Event Description:
RECEPTION: Saturday, July 8, 2023, 3:30 – 5:30 PM: Join Willow LaLand and Ron Sumner to celebrate the show and discuss the art and its inspirations. Refreshments will be served. Wine country artist, Willow LaLand, presents The Color of Winecountry, works that celebrate Sonoma’s wine country and culture. LaLand will unveil her latest commission, “Robert Young Vineyards,” which highlights the glorious Alexander Valley from the east side, nestled in the foothills of the Mayacama Range. Layers of color in these works resonate to create a vivid sense of life; hyper-realistic details bring immediacy to the subject matter. “18th Hole, Mayacama” hits par in its expansive view from the wine glasses in the foreground, to the lake leading back to the forested hills. Whether painting vineyards, carafes of wine or the Sonoma coast, LaLand’s attention to subtle coloration and detail take the viewer to the spot. “I love bringing out the colors of the wines and the lands that produce them – this region is true non-stop inspiration,” noted LaLand. A third-generation artist, LaLand began her studies at a very young age and had her own studio space at 10 years old. She is inspired by early American realists and uses ancient techniques to achieve dramatic realism. LaLand exhibits widely, including fifteenl years with Sonoma County Art Trails, and is collected internationally. She was featured in American Art Collector magazine in 2013 and on KRCB in 2015. Meet the Artist: Laland will be hosting the Gallery July 10 & July 18, 2023 from 11am – 6pm and welcomes your visit then.
