Art Exhibit: Weather or Not

EXHIBIT DATES: February 27 – March 26, 2023 RECEPTION: MARCH 4, 2023: 4 – 6 PM: Join the artists to celebrate the show and discuss their inspirations. Refreshments will be served. Local artist, Carmen Sheldon, presents Weather or Not a collection of paintings that capture climate drama in all its moods. Inspired by our tempestuous winter and her recent cyclone experience down under, Sheldon translates these celestial machinations into works of strong design and emotional appeal. Working in oil, mixed media and watercolor, the exhibit presents a variety of interpretations from impressionistic cloudscapes to intriguing abstracts. “While fowl weather kept me from enjoying the beautiful countryside, the dramatic cloudscapes became an exciting inspiration for my art. What a wonderful silver lining.” noted Sheldon. Sheldon has always loved art and studied painting alongside her college graphic design classes. After retiring from Santa Rosa Junior College, where she headed up the Graphic Design Program, she pursued painting full time. Previously primarily a watercolor painter, at that time she began creating textural oil landscapes. She exhibits locally and participated in the Sonoma County Art Trails Program last year.
