Two-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Mads Tolling celebrates the music of the 1960s with his Mads Men band, a supremely hip and versatile unit built on the world-class rhythm section tandem of bassist Gary Brown and drummer Eric Garland. They’re joined by Grammy-nominated vocalist Kenny Washington, a jazz virtuoso who has earned international acclaim with his soul-steeped sound and dexterous scatting. Born in Denmark and now living near Berkeley, Tolling is a masterly jazz artist who burst on the scene in 2003 while touring and recording with both Turtle Island Quartet and NEA Jazz Master Stanley Clarke. Focusing on his solo career for the past 15 years, he’s explored a vast array of jazz idioms, from the searing jazz/rock fusion of his Jean-Luc Ponty tribute to collective triumvirate of the San Francisco String Trio.
